Parts of speech are categories that define the behavior of words. Each part of speech explains how words are used to form sentences in order to express meanings, thoughts or ideas. In the English language, there are eight parts of speech according to their function in a sentence. They are nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections. All English words belong to one or more of these categories. These are the basic components of sentences.

Nouns are words that name people, animals, places, things, and ideas. There are basically five types of nouns: proper nouns, common nouns, collective nouns, concrete nouns, and abstract nouns. Nouns can also be countable nouns or uncountable nouns.

2. Pronouns

Pronouns are words used in place of nouns. Pronouns can be used to take the place and function of another pronoun. English pronouns are divided into categories. These are personal pronouns, reflexive pronouns, possessive pronouns, demonstrative pronouns, relative pronouns, interrogative pronouns, negative pronouns, reciprocal pronouns, and indefinite pronouns.

3. Adjectives
